Just a note on the paladin...it's true paladins can heal, but I think the situation is very different than the requirements of a priest. A shadow priest has less of a reason to be affronted when asked to heal because he's playing a lone dps spec in a healing oriented class. Paladins however, being hybrids, choose one area of play and the excel at it, as they are severely limited in other areas. I have an 80 retribution paladin, and I hate to say it, but my under 10k mana and fairly low healing crits aren't going to cut it for many heroics, let alone a raid. Unless you are planning to spec holy, it's reasonable to roll a pally and never heal except at very low levels when spec really makes very little difference. This is not to discount the usage of pocket healing, which is often helpful- just full time healing is not something i expect to do in a raid in my dps spec.

I am at this exact spot right now! Finally convinced my wife to play WoW with me (thought it would be a cool bonding experience) and was doing some research to help her choose a good Class to start with...

Very entertaining and informative guide! Nice work!

Good guide, I played Rogue for a while and became extremely bored. So Im looking for a good class to play as a beginner.
This helped out quite a bit, thanks. :)

Oh and what did your wife choose?
Haha
