Getting to the Badlands as Horde
How do I get to the Badlands as a Hordie?
I’d never really considered this problem until I rerolled as Horde. The Badlands are smack dab in the middle of the strongest Alliance territories and getting there provides a bit of a conundrum to Hordies. Here are several methods of getting there.
Easy Way: Ask, bribe, threaten, coerce, blackmail, seduce, entice or otherwise get a Warlock buddy to go there first. Then he can summon you. By the way, we’re suckers for flattery.
The Normal Way: I think I’d probably wait till I had a mount for this, but you can do it around 35 if you choose. Head to Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands and then follow the road south into the Wetlands. Keep following it south, take the east fork when it splits, and then head into the tunnels.
There are three tunnels you’ll go through in all. After the second, there are some level 19 and 20 Dragonmaw Orcs. If you’re heading through at 35 or higher, they won’t be a problem. In the third tunnel you’ll run into several PvP-flagged Dwarven mountaineers who will aggro on you when you get close enough. They are all level 30, so you could fight your way through them, but if you’re trying to avoid PvP then it’s probably best to just run. If you’ve got a mount, then stay mounted and you shouldn’t have any trouble getting through. (It’s possible that their patrols take them into the first and second tunnels, but I’ve never seen them anywhere but the third.)
Once you’re through the tunnels, you’ll come out in northwest Loch Modan. The road to the Badlands is down at the southern part of the map, as you can see in the first screenshot. And the Horde FP is in Kargath, which is all the way on the west side, as you can see in the second screenshot.
Probably More Trouble Than It’s Worth Way: I thought this was going to be a good idea until I actually tried it. It’s not. But feel free to try it if you want.
Head down to Booty Bay, talk to Scooty outside the inn and he can port you to Gnomeregan, which is in Dun Morogh, very close to Loch Modan. The only problem with this is that you end up deep in Gnomer, very close to the instance portal, and you’ll have to fight your way out through legions of 25-ish elite radioactive Troggs. If you’re heading to the Badlands at the normal level (around 35 to 40), you’ll have a bit of trouble making your way out alive.
But should you try it and make it out of Gnomer, you’ll come out into western Dun Morogh. From there, follow the road east all the way across the zone and into the tunnels. There are several PvP-flagged Dwarven Mountaineers in these tunnels too. You’ll come out of the tunnels in the southwestern corner of Loch Modan, and you can easily find your way to the Badlands from there.
Bang Your Head Against A Brick Wall Way If you’re really in the mood for some punishment, feel you need to atone for some WoW sins, or just want to spend an entire afternoon accomplishing basically nothing, then this way is for you. In fact, if you’re going to try this method, I recommend doing it as soon as possible in your character’s life. Like around level 3 or 4.
Start out by heading to Redridge Mountains (they’re just north of Duskwood), and follow the road north into the Burning Steppes. Once you’re in the Burning Steppes, follow the road north and then west over to Blackrock Mountain. Head up the ramp into the mountain, follow the path through it and you’ll come out in the southwest corner of the Searing Gorge. There’s not a great road to follow through the Gorge, but your goal is an unmarked path over on the eastern part of the region that will lead you into the Badlands. It’s somewhere around 70,40 (I don’t want to be too specific, because that might ruin your fun
).
Once you make it to the Badlands, head north to Kargath, grab the FP, pat yourself on the back and then come back in 30 levels once you can do the quests.
