Where Can I Go To Level? 20s Dungeons
One of the most common questions asked in WoW is some variation of “I’m level xx… where else can I go to quest?” Having leveled numerous characters through Azeroth, I know it’s definitely frustrating to be stuck at level 28 or 29, so close to being able to go to the next tier of zones, and not knowing where you can go to keep questing.
To help you in your travels, I’m going to provide you with a comprehensive guide to each and every zone in Azeroth, so you can always know where else you can safely go.
Dungeons for your 20s
Wailing Caverns - The Wailing Caverns are open to both factions (as are all dungeons), but many more Hordies go through here than Allies. WC is targeted towards high teen level players, but you can go through in your low 20s and still have a good time.
Location - Central Barrens
Mob Levels - High teens, low 20s.
Quests - Complete list
Notes - By the time you’re ready for WC, hopefully you’re well into the Leaders of the Fang quest line, but if you missed it, it starts with The Barrens Oases from Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem. The rewards from the quest line are very good (Crescent Staff or Wingblade), so be sure not to miss it!

Deadmines - The Deadmines are something of the Alliance counterpart to the Wailing Caverns. Either side can run the dungeon, but only the Alliance has quests for it. It’s also targeted to high teen level players, but many Allies still run it well into their 20s.
Location - Westfall
Mob Levels - High teens, low 20s.
Quests - Complete List
Notes - Make sure to do the main quest line for the Deadmines - not only are the rewards excellent (Chausses of Westfall, Tunic of Westfall, or Staff of Westfall ), but the story is one of the best in the game. It starts with The Defias Brotherhood.

Blackfathom Deeps - BFD has several quests for both sides, and is a great place to head a few levels after Deadmines or Wailing Caverns. It is a bit out of the way though, and getting a group often proves to be difficult.
Location - Northwest Ashenvale
Mob Levels - Mid to upper 20s.
Quests - Complete list
Notes - Make sure not to miss Old’Serrakis, one of the last bosses in the instance. He’s in the water underneath the structure near the end, where you encounter Twilight Lord Kelriss.

The Stockade - The Defias quest line from the Deadmines continues into The Stockade. Up until patch 2.3, the Stocks were easily one of my least favorite dungeons - rather difficult, super fast mob respawn, and *terrible* drops from the bosses (not a single blue). Even though the loot was upgraded significantly in 2.3, I can’t see Damer and Egwene heading to the Stockade any more than necessary.
Location - Right in the middle of Stormwind. Definitely not recommended for Horde.
Mob Levels - High 20s
Quests - Complete list (Disregard that Horde quest. It’s a seasonal one.)
Notes - Not much to say here except that it’s easy to pick up all six quests and complete them in one run.
—————————-
Razorfen Kraul - As my first several characters were Alliance, it took a long time for me to run RFK, as it is situated in Horde territory. Once I got there though, I really enjoyed the dungeon - lots of fun with good loot.
Location - Southern Barrens
Mob Levels - High 20s.
Quests - Complete list
Notes - Warriors from both factions have a quest that takes them into RFK. It’s usually not too hard to find a tank for it.
—————————-
Gnomeregan - I have a serious love/hate relationship with Gnomeregan. On the one hand, it can be a lot of fun. Big dungeon, great storyline, good quests and great loot. On the other hand, it can be incredibly frustrating. There are patrolling alarm-o-bots that, if you don’t kill them quickly, will spawn several elites, essentially guaranteeing a wipe. I’ve been wiped four times in one run by those bots. I believe that was when I started calling Gnomer “a little slice of hell.”
Location - Western Dun Morogh
Mob Levels - High 20s to low 30s.
Quests - Complete list
Notes - Despite my own trials with Gnomer, everyone should run it at least once. Make sure to have a good group, read up on some strategy and have a blast! Oh, and the place is big, so give yourself a couple hours at least.
