Where Can I Go To Level? Horde 30s

One of the most common questions asked in WoW is some variation of “I’m level xx… where else can I go to quest?” Having leveled numerous characters through Azeroth, I know it’s definitely frustrating to be stuck at level 28 or 29, so close to being able to go to the next tier of zones, and not knowing where you can go to keep questing.

To help you in your travels, I’m going to provide you with a comprehensive guide to each and every zone in Azeroth, so you can always know where else you can safely go.

After writing the first three parts to this series, I’ve decided to add another element to the discussion of each zone: the ACSZR (Adrenis’ Completely Subjective Zone Rating).

The ACSZR is based on my leveling experience in each zone, how much I enjoy it, the availability of quests, and whether or not I recommend that you go there to level. When I rate the zone, I’m going to look at it from the perspective of the faction that I’m writing for, so the zone may have a different rating for Horde and Alliance. The ratings are:

1 - Stay Away From This Zone At All Costs
2 - Go There Only If You Must
3 - It’s OK But Not Great
4 - Solidly Good Zone
5 - Definitely Go Here, You’ll Love It!

Horde 30 to 40

Thousand Needles - I mentioned in the Horde 20 to 30 guide that you can keep doing quests in Thousand Needles into your 30s. Most of the quests you’ll be doing now are going to come from the racetrack in the Shimmering Flats. Access to Thousand Needles is easiest from the Barrens to the north.

Quest Hubs - Shimmering Flats Racetrack

Flight Points - Freewind Post and Gadgetzan, in Tanaris, to the south.

Quest Levels - 25 to 35

ACSZR - From 25 to 30, this zone gets a 3. From 30 to 35, it gets a 2. I usually come here if I need a bit more help to get to 30, but I rarely come back after that.

———————————-

Hillsbrad Foothills/Alterac Mountains - Hillsbrad itself is a 20 to 30 zone, but I’ve grouped these two together because nearly all of the Alterac Mountains/Dalaran quests start in Tarren Mill.

Quest Hubs - Tarren Mill.

Flight Points - Tarren Mill

Quest Levels - 30 to 35 (as well as numerous 20 to 30 quests in Hillsbrad as well.)

ACSZR - 3. There are enough quests here to get you started in your 30s, but they run out too soon.

———————————-

Arathi Highlands - Access to Arathi Highlands is easiest from the Hillsbrad Foothills to the west.

Quest Hubs - Hammerfall

Flight Points - Hammerfall

Quest Levels - 30 to 40

ACSZR - 4. I’ve always enjoyed questing in Arathi. This zone would get a 5 if there were just a few more quests to do.

———————————-

Stranglethorn Vale - For the Horde, access to STV is easiest via zeppelin or boat. The zeppelin from the Undercity will take you to Grom’gol Base Camp, and the boat from Ratchet will take you to Booty Bay. STV is definitely one of the most popular and fun leveling zones. There are tons of quests to do from 30 all the way into your mid 40s.

Quest Hubs - Grom’gol Base Camp, Nesingwary’s Hunter Camp, and Booty Bay.

Flight Points - Grom’gol Base Camp and Booty Bay

Quest Levels - 30 to 45

ACSZR - 5. Easily one of my favorite zones. I’ve leveled every single one of my characters through STV.

———————————-

Badlands - Access to the Badlands is kinda tricky for Horde, as they are right in the heart of Alliance territory. Check out this article for a guide on getting there.

Quest Hubs - Kargath, a gnome and a goblin.

Flight Points - Kargath

Quest Levels - 35 to 45

ACSZR - 2. The Badlands is not a terrible zone, but it’s a pain to get to (for Horde especially) and there aren’t a ton of quests here anyway. I usually only come here if I need some extra help to get over the 38 to 40 hump.

———————————-

Swamp of Sorrows - Access to the Swamp of Sorrows is via Duskwood/Deadwind Pass to the west. In Duskwood, make sure to avoid Darkshire (it’s easy to skirt it to the south), and then just stay on the road and follow it east into SoS.

Quest Hubs - Stonard

Flight Points - Stonard

Quest Levels - 35 to 45

ACSZR - 2. Similar to the Badlands, I’ve never thought there were enough quests to justify coming to SoS in your 30s.

———————————-

Desolace - The easiest way to get to Desolace is to head south from Stonetalon Mountains (through the Charred Vale).

Quest Hubs - Shadowprey Village and a camp at the Kodo Graveyard.

Flight Points - Shadowprey Village

Quest Levels - 30 to 40

ACSZR - 4. Desolace is a great place to level in your 30s.

———————————-

Dustwallow Marsh - For Horde, Dustwallow Marsh is most easily accessed from the Barrens to the west.

Quest Hubs - Brackenwall Village and Mudsprocket

Flight Points - Brackenwall Village and Mudsprocket.

Quest Levels - 35 to 45.

ACSZR - Rating Pending. I’ve never done a ton of questing in Dustwallow, but I haven’t been back there since Mudsprocket was introduced, so I’m not going to give this zone a rating until I’ve had a chance to quest there. Before Patch 2.3, Dustwallow would have probably gotten a 3, but it’s sounding more like a 4 or 5 now. However, that’s not official.
