New Year Toon Update
One of the banes of my online life is MMO blogs that do nothing but constantly talk about their own characters. That segues nicely into this article, in which I’m going to do (almost) nothing but talk about my own characters. But since I usually write about the things that I’m experiencing in the game, it might give you an idea of some of the things I’m going to be writing about soon.
Warlockery
Adrenis - I hit 70 about a month ago on Adrenis. My guild is currently running Karazhan and my current focus is trying to get some decent gear, and get keyed for it, so I can tag along every now and then.
Gearwise, I’m currently PvPing for the Gladiator’s War Staff and hope to have it tomorrow. I lack about 3K Honor and 7 AV marks. I’m also working towards the Frozen Shadoweave set (since I picked up Tailoring not too long ago) and I’ll have the shoulders by the end of the week, hopefully.

One problem I’ve run into since hitting 70 is incredible difficulty in getting groups together to run high level dungeons. It seems that ever since the Season One epics became available no one wants to run regular dungeons. Which makes sense really - why spend 30 minutes LFG to run a dungeon and have chance at winning a drop, when you can just PvP and be guaranteed to get some epics in a few days? I started a thread about this on the WoW General forums and a number of people agreed that they were having the same trouble. I wonder if Blizzard thought this would happen when they made the Season One epics available?
The bigger problem here is that it makes getting rep (and the items associated with it) much more difficult. There are a number of enchants, glyphs, weapons and armor that I’d like to get, but can’t get a group to run a dungeon to raise my rep. The weapons and armor are ultimately replaceable, but many of the items can only be obtained through rep grinds. I guess the best option available now is to get geared up though PvP and then start running Heroics for the rep increase.

As far as Tradeskills go, I’m still digging Tailoring and Enchanting. I got a couple of great Enchanting drops - Savagery, which happened to drop on my first (and only, so far) Shattered Halls run, and Major Spellpower, which dropped on my 4th day of grinding up in the Bash’ir Landing. I’m the only one in my guild that has Savagery and one of only two that has Spellpower, so they’ve both been good to have.
As my longtime readers may be aware, I’ve been quite indecisive about my spec as I leveled. I started out as Affliction and stayed there until around level 45. Then I switched to Demonology and stuck with that until around level 62. Then I switched back to Affliction and then back to Demonology a few levels later. Since hitting 70, I’ve stayed Demonology but have respec’ed at least 4 times, changing things up within that tree.
Well I think I’ve finally found a good Demonology spec that I’ll stick with for a while. After I got some good advice from the Warlock forums, I ended up with this spec and it’s served me well so far. Good damage, good utility and I get to keep my felguard (of course)
Druidicalism
Matoskah - Mato is my most played alt - currently level 43 - and I have a lot of fun playing him. He’s been feral since the day I created him, and I really enjoy the versatility that comes with that spec.
In fact, let’s take a deeper look at the Feral spec. With nearly every class, your spec determines what group role you want to be most competent in (Tank, DPS or Heal). It’s not set in stone - for instance, a Fury warrior can tank just fine, and a Shadow priest can heal a group with no problem. But, on the whole, your talent spec is going to reflect the role that you find most enjoyable.
Feral Druids, however, can fill two group roles (count em, two - Tank and DPS). No other class can spec into two roles. Shadow Priests are spec’ing into DPS. Same with Fury Warriors. Feral Druids, on the other hand, are spec’ed to be both Tank and DPS, as the situation requires. I find that pretty cool.
I also find it interesting that Druids remain one of the least played classes, despite their incredible versatility. Maybe this is due to the lack of choice in race?
Other Alts
Not a whole lot to say on these last few guys. I usually play them as time allows, but the bulk of my time is spent on Adrenis and Mato.
Damer - 24 Paladin, Protection Spec. I’m playing this guy with my wife, Egwene. You can read about our adventures here.
Netipot - 24 Hunter, Beast Spec.
Beaumont - 22 Warrior, Hybrid spec.
If you’re new to my blog, then you’re probably unfamiliar with my WoW history (you can read about it here and here), so I’ll bring you up to speed quick like.
I started playing WoW about one year after it came out. After the Burning Crusade came out, I got my dwarf Warrior to 67 and my NE hunter to 64. At that point, I was tired and burned out on WoW, so I decided to quit. I was so sure that I wasn’t going to come back that I sold everything I owned (everything!) and sent all of the gold to my guild leader (about 2200G) to use in raid preparations. I did not, however, delete the characters. I guess there was some small part of me that was unsure whether I was really gone for good (rather intuitive part of me, as it turned out :P).
So, I had the idea a few days ago of getting those characters back and bringing them to Shandris. I’ve found a good guild for Egwene and Damer on the Alliance side, and I’d love to get them both to 70. The problem is that they are both totally naked and have no gold or gear whatsoever.
So I’m wondering at the possibility of maybe getting some of their gear back from a GM? I’ll have to talk to one to see what they can do. I’m not sure what their answer would be. On the other hand, it might be kinda fun to try and gear them up from totally naked
I’ll keep you guys posted on that situation.

Well, those blogs that talk a lot about their characters — that’s probably why they started those blogs. And they may find that, as they talk about their characters, they discover other interesting things to talk about
I don’t begrudge them that at all. That’s how I got started… and I still do it, just not as much!
Hiya! Just thought I’d leave a message saying I enjoy reading your blog. I did pretty much the same as you did, though, not the leaving WoW for a year. I had had it with the Alliance side and started fresh on a new server with my husband. We’re currently a pair of PvP’ing hunters, having a blast. (My hunter got the owl pet from Teldrassil btw) In the beginning it was odd leaving my level 70 Dwarven Paladin behind, as I had spent so much time on her… But now it is refreshing. New starting areas, new quests. It is something I am glad I did!
Keep on posting, especially about Damer and Egwene! I enjoy those immensly!
Aww, thanks Noor =) I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my blog. It was interesting starting on a new server, wasn’t it? I kept wondering where all of my gold was. But it was totally worth it to be a Hordie now.
