The (mostly naked) Story of McGraken
I mentioned in my New Year’s Toon Update that I have an old Dwarf Warrior and a NE Hunter that I don’t play anymore. Long story short, they were my mains before I left WoW. When I came back, I was ready for something new, so I rolled Adrenis.
So, as I mentioned, a couple of weeks ago I was struck by the idea of transferring them over to Shandris (because the people there are so great), and starting to play them again. The problem is that I sold everything I owned when I left and gave the gold away to a friend. So they have no gear and no gold.
I opened up a GM ticket about a week ago and explained the situation. I asked if there was any way for me to get my gear back or at least some of my gold. I waited a bit for a response but never got one, and I eventually had to log off for the night. I’m assuming it took them a while to research exactly what to do in this situation
The next morning I had an email from Blizzard which said,
Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill your request at this time. Though our goal is to attend to each and every petition we receive, certain actions are beyond the scope of the Game Master Department. We regret any inconvenience you may have been caused.
Well, crud.
I know this is totally of my own doing, but I was kinda hoping for a little divine intervention from Blizz there. Oh well. On the other hand, it’s kinda cool to have done something so crazy that the Account Dept. just throws their collective hands in the air and says, “We can’t do that.”
So anyway, I’m ready for a new challenge and this sounds about right. I’m going to bring McGraken to Shandris and gear him up to tank from almost completely naked. I logged onto him a few days ago just to check things out - and by the way, wow, was it weird logging onto him after not playing him for a year. It’s amazing how nostalgic we can be over a character in a video game, isn’t it?
Anyway, he wasn’t completely naked like I thought. Apparently I didn’t get rid of any of my PvP rewards, because they don’t sell for Gold and I guess I couldn’t bear the thought of just destroying them. So he’s got 3 pieces of gear:
Legs - Slayer’s Leggings
Ring - Don Julio’s Band
Trinket - Stormpike Insignia (Rank 6)
That’s it. No other armor, no weapons. That gives me just over 5,000 HP (compared to the over 8,500 HP I had in all of my gear, IIRC) and 1,000 AC (that’s 10% damage mitigation). So things are definitely going to be interesting
Luckily my Unarmed skill is pretty much maxed out already, as I frequently used Fist Weapons. That should help…. some.
OK, my character transfer is pending now. The transfer page says it can take several days, but I heard from other people that they got the transfer completed in just a couple of hours. If I’m able to play him today, I’ll keep you updated.
