McGraken - I’ve At Least Got *Some* Clothes Now

That guy ^^ is my hero. But more on that later.

Wow, that character transfer was super quick. Started and finished in just a few hours. Kudos to Blizzard on that. They made that an incredibly simple process.
OK, I logged onto McG not too long after the transfer was completed. So there I was in Ironforge. Mostly naked. Penniless. I didn’t really even know where to start. My goal is to get some gold and gear and get back into the Outlands. The immediate problem with that is that I would probably not be able to kill any Outlands mobs at the moment. So I started thinking about my options.
A more thorough personal inventory showed I had the following:
- The aforementioned leggings, ring and trinket.
My Epic Ground mount - Stormpike Battle Charger
4 Silver, 10 Copper
Various and sundry items in my bank, most of which are inconsequential. I did, however, have a bunch of BG tokens from AV, WSG and AB, which would come in handy.
The first order of business, I decided, was to get some more bag space. I went to the AH and spent 3 S for a 6-slot bag. I would have liked a few more, but I was down to 1 S now
The next thing was to decide where to go to start farming. I figured that I would probably be able to handle some level 50ish mobs, so I decided to head to the Plaguelands. My goal was to try and find a good zone that perhaps still had some quests that I hadn’t completed yet. I ran over to the Gryphon Master and clicked on the WPL FP on the map. Nothing happened.
Clicked again. Nothing happened.
Then I look at the middle of my screen and see “You do not have enough money.”
HOLY SCHNIKES!!! Not enough money for a gryphon ride??? I honestly don’t think that’s ever happened to me before, on any of my characters. I was actually speechless when I saw that. Luckily though, I did still have my epic mount, so I hopped on him and rode all the way up to WPL.
The first hour or so of farming was pretty rough. I was grinding on the skelies in Sorrow Hill, trying to get some Gold and Runecloth so I could make some bandages (since another thing I couldn’t afford was food!). It was slow going. It took a long time to kill them and if I ended up pulling more than one, I was pretty much dead. Not good times. Not good times at all.
After an hour or so, I decided this was not the way to go about things. I was dying too frequently (another thing I couldn’t afford to do was repair my armor), and not making much money. So I went down to Southshore and noticed that there were several level 30ish quests that I could do. One of the quest rewards was the Crusader Belt. I figured I might as well do the quest and get the belt. It’s about 35 levels below me, but it’s better than nothing.
So I went up into the Alterac Mountains to start killing the Syndicate mobs. At this point I was seriously discouraged. Things were not going well, and I was really starting to wonder if I was going to be farming for days or even weeks before I made it back to the Outlands. Then, all of the sudden, Fate smiled on me. I rode by the Alliance Alterac Valley outpost and saw “Stormpike Supply Officer.”
“Hey,” I thought. “I’ve got some AV marks in the bank. I wonder if that guy’s got anything to sell me?! I wonder if I’ve got any honor still left over?!?!” Hand trembling, I hit “H” to pull up the Honor screen. 7750 Honor!
/cheer /hug /hug /hug /kiss /kiss /kiss I flew back to IF (on a gryphon this time), grabbed the AV marks and went back to my buddy Thanthaldis.
I ended up getting several things from him. Weapons were the first priority: I got the Stormstrike Hammer and the Electrified Dagger. It’s kind of amusing to me that the last time I talked to Thanthaldis those were actually decent weapons. I also got the neck and cloak from him as well.
Now I was feeling a lot better. With that new gear, I was able to complete some high-50s quests in EPL and Winterspring fairly easily, getting enough Gold in the process to be able to at least function normally. I also grabbed a Mining Pick and was able to get a stack of Thorium Ore to put up for sale. When I logged for the night on Day One, I had about 4 Gold to my name and this gear:
Head - Nothing
Neck - Stormpike Soldier’s Pendant
Shoulders - Nothing
Back - Stormpike Soldier’s Cloak
Chest - Nothing
Shirt - Stylish Red Shirt Made by Egwene
Wrists - Nothing
Hands - Nothing

Feet - Nothing
Ring 1 - Don Julio’s Band
Ring 2 - Nothing
Trinket 1 - Stormpike Insignia (Rank 6)
Trinket 2 - Nothing
