MonkeyQuest
It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned any useful addons, so I wanted to do a post on a really handy quest addon that I’ve been using for quite some time. It’s called MonkeyQuest and it’s part of the Monkey line of addons, all by the same author.
I’d like to take a second and say what a great word “monkey” is. Isn’t it just fun to say? Monkey. Monkey? Monkey! Go ahead and try it. I like to use it when I stub my toe in the dark - “Oh, monkey! That hurt!” - or similar situations, but possibilities for its use are myriad.
But anyhoo, MonkeyQuest is a handy little addon that largely replaces the clunky built-in quest interface. As you can see in the screenshot, it takes all of your quests and puts them in an easily readable box that you can move around your UI to your heart’s delight. It colors the quest by level (green is below you, yellow is appropriate for you, orange and red are above you) and also colors the quest objectives by how far along you are to completing them.

When you need to read the quest text, just click on the quest in the Monkeyquest frame and it pops up like you can see here in the screenshot with Damer. It makes for much much easier reading than the standard quest log.

Another handy thing it does is put a progress note in the tooltip when you mouseover a mob that you need to kill. Like this:
I’ve been helped by that numerous times when I’ve been riding or running past a group of mobs and suddenly see that note. A couple of times it’s saved me from going to the wrong place altogether. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for items dropped by mobs, but it’s handy nonetheless.
You can grab MonkeyQuest here. It’s updated for the latest patch (2.3) and has been bug free for me.
