All The Darkmoon Decks You Could Ever Possibly Want
You know about the Darkmoon Faire Decks, right? Each Deck is made up of 8 cards that drop randomly off of level 60+ mobs. There were four Decks pre-BC and four more were introduced in the expansion. When you get the full Deck, you turn it into an NPC at the Darkmoon Faire and get a sweet trinket reward. Additionally, the cards are not BoP, so you can buy them in the AH or give them to guildies.
Here are the four current Decks and their rewards. Each Deck is made up of Ace through Eight of the same name.
Storms Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Wrath
-
Each time one of your direct damage attacks does not critically strike, you gain 17 critical strike rating and 17 spell critical strike rating for the next 10 sec. This effect is consumed when you deal a critical strike.
The Deck that I am currently going after, this is excellent for just about any DPS class, although some would benefit more than others. Class and Spec combos that trigger an ability off of a crit will make the most use of this item. For instance, Destro Locks and Improved Shadowbolt, Fury Warriors and Flurry. Any DPS class that does not rely on crits would not want this card (e.g., Affliction Locks).
Blessings Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Crusade
-
Each time you deal melee or ranged damage to an opponent, you gain 6 attack power for the next 10 sec., stacking up to 20 times. Each time you land a harmful spell on an opponent, you gain 8 spell damage for the next 10 sec., stacking up to 10 times.
The other damage oriented Deck, this is great for just about every DPS class. Hybrid classes like Pallies and Shammies, that do both melee and spell damage, would benefit tremendously from this Deck, but any DPS class would benefit to some extent.
Furies Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Vengeance
-
You have a 10% chance when hit by an attack or harmful spell to deal 95 to 115 holy damage to your attacker.
An excellent tanking trinket, the Vengeance Card is particularly geared towards Prot Pallies, although the Stamina boost makes it good for any tank class.
Lunacy Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Madness
-
Each time you land a killing blow on an enemy that yields experience or honor, you gain the Power of Madness.
The Power of Madness puts one of several buffs on your character, doing anything from +Stam to +AP/SP to increased haste. You can read more about it here. This card seems to be geared towards fast, more non-stop action of PvP rather than raiding. It would also be useful in farming, but kind of a waste if that’s all it’s used for.
Here are the four pre-BC Decks:
Beasts Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon
-
2% chance on successful spellcast to allow 100% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting for 15 sec.
Geared towards healers, this Deck has retained some of its usefulness in the expansion. Not a terrific trinket, but not terrible either.
Elementals Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom
-
Chance to strike your melee target with lightning for 200 to 300 Nature damage.
Obviously aimed at melee DPS, this card was one of the best trinkets anywhere pre-BC. Although there are better trinkets now, it would not be a terrible choice for a melee class, especially if you could pick it up cheap.
Portals Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether
-
Gives the wearer a 10% chance of being able to resurrect with 20% health and mana.
I’ve never totally understood the point of this card. I assume that it’s aimed at rezzers to help rez your raid after a wipe, but only a one in ten chance is far from consistent. There are too many other consistent wipe-recovery methods available for this to be that valuable of a trinket. I guess it could also be used in farming, but again, a bit of a waste there.
Warlords Deck turns into Darkmoon Card: Heroism
-
Sometimes heals bearer of 120 to 180 damage when damaging an enemy in melee.
The old-school tank Deck, this is not incredibly valuable now. The new tank Deck is much, much better; however, if you’re a tank that’s hard up for trinkets, this would not be a total waste.
