Friday Links

I had hoped to get a real post up today, but time does not seem to be in favor of that idea. But perhaps it will still happen. Who knows what the afternoon will bring?

Lassirra, from the Hunter’s Mark, got into the WotLK beta and posted some great screenshots from it. Some very cool things to see there, like the new calendar utility that will apparently replace Group Calendar, the Achievements interface, and some nice shots of Northrend.
Gun Lovin’ Dwarf Chick had a great idea for new alts: Leveling Pants! Simply take some low level, white quality pants (and chest and shirt, if you want) put some good enchants on them (like the Clefthide Leg Armor, for instance) and then send them to your new alt. Now you can speed through those boring early zones, with the added bonus of not having to worry about gear upgrades for several levels. And the best part is, since the pants are not BoE, when your alt has out grown the pants, you can simply send them on to your next character.
Rolling Horde set an interesting goal for his characters before WotLK comes out: he’s going to hit Exalted with all of the Alliance factions. There are a couple of ways to do this, but he’s going to focus on doing the turn-ins in AV. I think it’s a pretty cool idea. Hitting Exalted with my faction’s cities has always been one of those things I’ve wanted to do, and focusing on the turn-ins in AV would help some of the honor grind go a bit more enjoyably. Plus it’s always fun to see Lokholar and Ivus running around wreaking havoc.
And lastly, this is not related to WoW, but I wanted to give it a mention anyway. My blogging buddies over at Grad Games have released a new game called The Magic Toychest. It’s a puzzle/strategy game geared toward younger players, but I played the demo and enjoyed it. If you have a younger gamer in your house, who is maybe not quite old enough for WoW, I’d definitely check this one out. You can get the demo here.
