The Top 5 Achievements I Will Be Getting (Plus One)

The Achievement system is definitely one of the most fun things that Blizzard has added to WoW in quite some time. Without further ado, here are the top five achievements I have my eye on.

Adrenis the Explorer

Exploring has been one of my favorite WoW past times ever since I started playing. I generally open up all of the map in the areas that I quest in anyway, so being able to get several achievements and a cool title for doing this is just icing on the cake.

My new pally was only about level 30 or 35 when 3.0 (and the Achievements) were released, and I immediately knew that this was definitely one that I wanted to get. I started making a point to fully explore every area that I quested in, and when I hit 60 and got my epic ground mount, I went back and got all of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms crossed off the list.

I was planning on doing the same in Outland, but I had forgotten about all of the areas that you have to have a flying mount to get to, like Skettis and Kazzak’s area in HFP. So I put this achievement on the back burner for a short time, and I’m about to start up on it again. I’m level 76, and as soon as I ding 77 I’m going to get Cold Weather Flying and Epic Flying, head back to Outland and start crossing those regions off the list as well. Once I’ve got Outland done, I think I’ll continue with Northrend just to get the whole Achievement done. It’ll be pretty nifty to have that title before I hit 80. ^_^

Hail to the Chef

This is another great meta Achievement that rewards a fun title. I’ve always enjoyed Cooking - I think I’ve leveled 4 different toons to 300+ in Cooking - and being able to get some fun Achievements with it is great.

This Achievement is not currently obtainable in game, due to several recipes not yet being available, but that’s OK really, as you have to do the cooking daily numerous times to get all of the Northrend recipes necessary for the Northrend Gourmet. Blizzard will likely patch those recipes in soon, just as they did with the Talbuk Steak recipe in BC.

The only real obstacle to my getting the Chef title is the Captain Rumsey’s Lager achievement, which has sneakily been placed in the Cooking Achievements, but requires fishing to get. The recipe only drops from the fishing daily in Outland, and nearly all of those dailies require 300+ fishing to complete. I’ve leveled fishing to nearly 300 on two characters, and I don’t really care to do that again on my new main. So there are two possibilities that might allow me to acquire the recipe.

First off, one of the fishing dailies only requires fishing level of 1 to complete - Crocolisks in the City. So, conceivably, I could only do the fishing daily when it’s this quest, and hopefully I would eventually get the recipe in the rewards. The other option, and the one that I’m hoping for, is Blizzard making this recipe available in some other fashion. I don’t have high hopes for that though, since it’s so clearly tied to fishing.

Loremaster of Northrend

This is one Achievement that just seems like a no-brainer. Questing in WoW get you gold, reputation, and big chunks of XP, and the more quests you have left over at 80 the more you can do just to get the gold reward.

Plus I’m really enjoying the story lines so far in WotLK. I’ve cleared out Howling Fjord (beautiful zone!), Borean Tundra (loved the DEHTA quests) and I’m currently about halfway through Dragonblight. At this rate, I’ll probably ding 80 in Grizzly Hills, or Zul’drak at the latest. That will give me 3 or 4 whole zones for pure profit.

Shop Smart, Shop Pet-Smart

I’ve always enjoyed collecting the mini-pets, but before 3.0 bag space was always an issue. Now that we can have as many as we want without taking up slots, I’ve started collecting every one that I can get my hands on. I’ve got 37, plus an Unhatched Jubling Egg in the bank, so I need another 12 to get the Achievement and collect my super-cool Skunk pet. Luckily, I have the excellent WarcraftPets database to use so I can figure out where to get the remaining 12 with minimal fuss.

Epic

I was going to try and write something noble to justify this one, but you know what? It’s e-peen. That’s all.

Bonus

I’m making this one up, because it’s not in the game yet, but I bet something like this will come later: Achievement for completing all of the 10-man WotLK Raid Dungeons. Along with the title of Raid Master. And an awesome mount. And a cookie?

  1. It’s a bit more difficult than just “complete all the 10-man raids,” but there’s always Glory of the Raider! Of course, it only goes up to the current available raids. Several of them are just “kill X on Normal difficulty” (such as The Spellweaver’s Downfall, aka “kill Malygos”)

Reward is a Plagued Proto-Drake - perfect for, say, warlocks?

Good luck with completing The Undying - which, incidentally, comes with a cool title (go figure, it’s “The Undying”). You’d also get “Of the Nightfall” and a shot at a drake for doing The Twilight Zone. Both are requirements for Glory of the Raider.

  2. @Stop: Yeah, I do like those raid achievements and the Glory of the Raider meta. I’ll probably get a few of those with my guild, but I’m looking for Blizz to put in an achievement simply for those that complete every 10-man raid all the way to Arthas. That seems fitting.

  3. I am going for “The Seeker” and “Loremaster” titles. Yes, it is going to happen. I Have A Plan.

I have Outlands fully completed, and once I finish Northrend I’ll go back and clean up the old Azeroth zones. I’m currently about 150 shy in EK and 299 shy in Kalimdor (with some zones completely unquested; I know I left out all of two zones in Kalimdor and a chunk of Barrens follow-ups)

I have yet to see a Seeker (award for 3K quests complete; I’m currently at 2150), and calculating what I have left to do in Northrend (hundreds), I think it’s achievable en route to Loremaster. If I come up a few short I know of some questlines I left unfinished in Outlands (even though I did get the “Loremaster of Outlands” achievements).

2320 achievement points so far. So addictive -_-

  4. @Jirina: Nice to know you have A Plan, Jiri ^_^. I’d kinda like to go for the Loremaster title, but I’m somewhere around 1,000 quests short at the moment. We’ll see how things are going once I hit 80.
