Satrina Buff Frames

I mentioned last week that I was in the search for a better buff addon to clear up some more space on my screen. Azande suggested that I try out Satrina Buff Frames. And, in a word, SBF totally rocks. It’s everything that I was looking for in a buff addon, and I think it’s not overstating the matter to say that SBF completes me. Not just as a WoW player, but as a man.

Anyway, here’s how I’ve got things looking.

The great thing about SBF is the ability to divide your buffs into different sections. I’ve done mine into 4 different groups. Group One is where all buffs go by default. You’ll notice that there is no Group One in that screenshot. That’s because this group never appears on my screen! I don’t need to know about at least 50% of all the buffs I get, so this way I can pick and choose which buffs appear. I don’t ever have to worry about the buffs in this group, or have them taking up valuable screen space.

Group Two, which is in the top right corner, is the group where all of the important, but non-combat buffs go. This is for things like my Blessings, which I need to be able to keep an eye on but don’t need to see constantly, and for buffs from other classes, such as Fortitude and AI. This group disappears when I enter into combat, as you can see in the screenshot below.

Groups Three is where I’ve got all of my debuffs showing. As I mentioned before, there are often times when debuffs are of critical importance, so I’ve got that box right where I can keep an eye on it. Group Four is for all of my most important buffs. All of my Seals show in there, as well as Divine Plea and Avenging Wrath.

I highly recommend SBF to anyone wanting to improve their buff UI. It’s fairly easy to set up, incredibly robust, and comes with in-game help files to explain just about everything that you could have a question on. I’m trying to think of a complaint about it, but I honestly don’t think that I have a single one. It just rocks. Go give it a try!

  1. Actually, Elkano’s Buff Bars lets you do just that too.
Just create new groups, and apply filtering to each group by buffs/debuffs/tench/tracking or even more refined, buff/debuff on an individual basis, by means of whitelist/blacklist.
I even used to have it help me on Thaddius, by creating 2 groups and setting them to display icon only at their maximum size: one only showed the positive charge, the other only showed the negative one. Result: i was always the first to move :)
