Just create new groups, and apply filtering to each group by buffs/debuffs/tench/tracking or even more refined, buff/debuff on an individual basis, by means of whitelist/blacklist. I even used to have it help me on Thaddius, by creating 2 groups and setting them to display icon only at their maximum size: one only showed the positive charge, the other only showed the negative one.
