I’m Thankful for Rare Spawns 2

Felweaver Scornn

Felweaver Scorrn is a rare elite found in Durotar, in the cave outside of Orgrimmar with the Burning Blade cultists. I’ve run into him a couple of times, most recently on my shaman, Chaska. Let’s see if you can guess from the health bars how the fight went >.<

scornn

Taskmaster Whipfang

I ran into Taskmaster Whipfang in Windshear Crag in the Stonetalon Mountains. He’s another elite and proved to be a very tough fight for Matoskah. We were equal levels the first time we fought and I would have killed him except for the Venture Co. goblin that decided to join in on the fun. (And that’s actually the truth.)

whipfang

Lady Vespia

Lady Vespia is a rare naga spawn on the Zoram Strand in Ashenvale. Maybe she’s related to Lady Sesspira? Anyway, I ran into her on Matoskah and she went down pretty easily.

vespia

And the loot?

vespialoot

Prince Raze

I found Prince Raze in the northern part of Ashenvale, around the satyr camp north of Splintertree Post. He’s not elite, but he had eight levels on me at the time, so I decided to let him be. And I lived. That’s the important part.

Crusty

Crusty is a colorful little crab that lives in the sea off the shore of Desolace. I think he’d make a great hunter pet if you’re looking for something in the Crustacea subphylum.

Lord Hel’nurath

Lord Hel’nurath is a 62 elite boss mob that is part of the warlock epic mount quest. In case you aren’t familiar with that quest line, it ends in Dire Maul West when you (and hopefully 4 other friends) face Immol’thar (the usual end boss of the dungeon).

Once Immy’s dead, you summon a Xorothian Dreadsteed, which you must defeat, and then Lord Hel’nurath pops in as well. He’s got his panties in a wad because you’re stealing the Dreadsteed from his stables or something like that. I’m sure we could have worked it all out, but he seems like he’s got some anger management issues to sort through.

helnurath

And if you’re wondering, Yes, I did stop in the middle of a boss fight to grab that shot of Hel’nurath. Group members can be rezzed, but rare spawns are forever.

Edit: I can’t believe I forgot to say this earlier >.< Many many thanks to Eight, Knowledge, Ashalle (of The Blood Legion) and Iyleria (of Fòcus) for helping me get my epic mount. You guys rock!

I’m Thankful for Rare Spawns

Ravasaur Matriarch

Shortly after I retreatedran away fromfled… encountered King Mosh, I ran into the Ravasaur Matriarch. She’s got a nice green coloring on her and looks a bit different from the other ravasaurs in the area.

matriarch

And the loot?

matriarchloot

The text got cut off a bit, but it was the Swashbuckler’s Cape. Can’t remember the specific enchantment.

Gretheer

Gretheer is a big ole spider in the deserts of Silithus. (By the way, I need to do a plug for Silithus here. Not too many people will spend much time there now, since you can go to the Outlands at 58, but when you hit 55 make sure to head over there. Plenty of good quests and the zone is really a lot of fun.)

gretheer

Also, I just have to say, as a complete and unabashed arachnophobe, how great is it that there aren’t spiders that size in the real world? Seriously, what would you do if you came across a spider 3 feet high and 6 feet across? I guess if I had Thooroon with me it’d be OK, but still…

Anyway, here’s what he dropped.

Thora Feathermoon, Marcus Bel, Hannah Bladeleaf and Aean Swiftriver

These three Alliance chicks (and one lucky Alliance dude*) wander up and down the Barrens together, doing not much of anything except looking for lowbie Horde players to mercilessly gank. Here they are about to get my druid, Matoskah.

gankers

Note how far away I am from them. They’ll aggro from clear across the zone.

*Seriously, how did Marcus Bel get that job?

Alliance Captain: Private Marcus Bel, I have your orders here. We’re going to send you into Backrock Mountain, into the very heart of possibly the most dangerous place in all of Azeroth. There you will face the forces of Ragnaros the Firelord, the Dark Iron Dwarves and Nefarian, leader of the Black Dragonflight. Success is not guaranteed. Indeed, survival itself is not guaranteed. Danger and great peril will be your constant companions.

Marcus Bel: I have pictures of you and the General’s wife from last year’s Christmas party.

Alliance Captain: Private Marcus Bel, I have your new orders here. We’re going to send you to ride around the Barrens with three beautiful and mysterious Night Elf women. You won’t actually have to do anything except ride aimlessly around with three beautiful and mysterious Night Elf women. Occasionally you may run across an Orc or Tauren that will be at least 10 levels below you. Feel free to mercilessly gank them. And then you can get back to your normal duties of riding around with three beautiful and mysterious Night Elf women.

Marcus Bel: Awesome!

Terrorspark

I was running through the Burning Steppes a while back, turning in a couple parts of my warlock epic mount quest, when I rode past this ginormous imp. I ran back to him to see what he was. He was Terrorspark! (There’s nothing too special about him. I just think with a name like Terrorspark, he deserves the exclamation point.)

terrorspark

And the loot?

terrorsparkloot

Fulgorge

I ran into Fulgorge just south of the Mag’har Post in Hellfire Peninsula, making him my very first rare spawn in the Outlands! He’s a tunneller worm, similar to many that you face in HFP. The only warning you’ll see that he’s coming near you is the animation of rocks being thrown into the air as he tunnels around.

fulgorge

As you can see in the screenshot, he caught me right after a ferocious battle with numerous Helboars. I was severely weakened after fighting off a great number of them and so Fulgorge vanquished me after a terrible fight. That’s what I tell myself anyway.

As you can also see in the screenshot, I’ve landed 3 DOTs on him already and his health bar hasn’t budged at all. He’s one seriously tough mother. Wowhead says he’s got 79,000 health and usually requires a full group of 5 to bring him down. Since he travels underground and only surfaces when someone is near, he’d be a bit hard to find, but you could do it eventually if you tried hard enough.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Rare Spawn Mega Post 2

Qirot

One of my favorite things to do in WoW is to go off the beaten path and just explore. There are some really cool things to be found out there in the wild. I was questing in Feralas (which is probably my favorite zone except for maybe Nagrand) and found myself near the Qiraji infestation to the south. There are two hives there that extend for a good ways underground. I went down into one just to see what was there and I ran into Qirot.

qirot

He’s got a very cool look with the black and white body and wings. I’m assuming he’s not tameable for hunters (I don’t think any Qiraji bugs are?) but it would be awesome if he was.

qirot2

I got this from him.

qirot3

Ravenclaw Regent

I found the Ravenclaw Regent (on Beaumont) in another damp dark cave. I was doing the Beren’s Peril quest in Silverpine Forest and found him at the very back of it.

regent

He wasn’t too hard of a fight although I think I might have used a health potion halfway through. He dropped this.

regent2

I also killed him a few weeks later on my druid and he dropped the same cloak.

King Mosh

If you’ve ever quested in Un’Goro, chances are you’ve been ganked by at least one of those ridiculously sneaky Devilsaurs. Well, this guy is their daddy.

kingmosh

Sorry, I have no idea what loot he drops. When I saw him, I paused just long enough to grab that screenie, and then I ran. And I lived. That’s the important part.

Lady Sesspira

Azshara is another one of my favorite zones to quest in. I love how old some of the ruins feel. They just give off this aura of incredible age. I was in the ruins in central Azshara, working on Stealing Knowledge, when I ran into Lady Sesspira.

sesspira

She wasn’t a tough fight at all. I got this from her the first time I ran into her.

sesspira2

And this the second.

sesspira3

Olm the Wise

I came across Olm the Wise in Felwood. He’s a non-aggressive rare bird that is actually linked to the Cenarion Circle.

olmthewise

You have to put yourself at war with CC in order to attack him. I didn’t feel like doing that and I usually like to let non-aggro mobs live anyway, so I just /waved at Olm and went on my way.
